Historical Marine Boy Marble Signed 1913
hand-carved bust of a boy at sea.
It was traditionally common in middle-class families
to depict his growing boy, either
as a portrait in oil or, here, famously as a bust in marble
before he embarked on a longer sea voyage.
The work is significantly signed (unknown to me) on the right shoulder.
It is an excellent, first-class stone carving from the German Empire.
