Heathland landscape by the North German painter from Osterstadt Bendix Passig (1864 - 1957). Oil canvas 120 x 67 cm.
He was a German painter and sculptor.
After his apprenticeship in Kiel, he studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1883 to 1885. He then went to Berlin and continued his studies at the art academy there from 1886 to 1888.
After completing his studies, he became self-employed as a freelance artist and opened a studio in Berlin. His main subjects were landscapes, particularly heather with depictions of animals, and floral still lifes. Other themes were taken from mythological and Christian areas. In 1899 he traveled to Switzerland and Italy to work out his artistic ideas.
