Eugen Bracht (1842–1921) was a German painter and one of the prominent representatives of the Düsseldorf school of painting.

Eugen Felix Prosper Bracht was born on September 14, 1842 in Morges, Switzerland.
He initially studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, where he was taught by Karl Müller and Andreas Müller.

Bracht went on study trips to Paris and Italy, which influenced his artistic work.
During his trip to Italy in 1868 he developed a preference for realistic landscape painting.

Bracht belonged to the Düsseldorf School of Painting, an art movement that emphasized the realistic depiction of landscapes.
He became a member of the Malkasten, an artists' association in Düsseldorf.

Bracht was known for his atmospheric landscape paintings, which often contained romantic, idyllic or mystical elements.
His works were characterized by a fine application of paint and careful lighting.

Eugen Bracht was appointed professor at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1889, where he taught until his retirement in 1912.
As a teacher, he influenced a number of students, including the painter Hans von Bartels.

Some of his most famous works are "Cornfield in the Evening Light" and "Autumn Landscape".

After retiring from teaching, Bracht continued to devote himself to painting.
Eugen Bracht died on November 4, 1921 in Darmstadt.
