Representation of the sea battle on September 11, 1678 in oil on cardboard, the "Wapen von Hamburg" a convoy ship and escort ship sailed under Admiral Karpfanger, returns from a voyage from the Arctic Ocean with the sister ship "Leopoldus Primus" and another 50 loaded Hamburg whaling ships from Spitsbergen and gets into a battle with French pirates off the mouth of the Elbe. 2 French ships were sunk, the rest was able to escape in the dark fog. The picture was painted in 1911. Large painting by the marine painter Hans Bohrdt used to hang in the Great Hall of the Hamburg City Hall, was given away to Berlin in 1938, and has been lost since then.
