Delft tiles

Beautiful range of Delft tiles from around 1880, hand-painted and glazed, come from an old farmhouse at the mouth of the Elbe. The tiles measure 13 by 13 cm and are 8 mm thick. It is a yellowish clay that suggests it was made after 1850. There are 12 different motifs in a double circle and the spider was used as the corner motif. At that time, Delft tiles were traditional and popular wall decorations in coastal areas and on the islands, both in the living room, for example as the back wall of the stove, as well as in the sheep room and the living room. The tiles have been sold.
