Product description
Oil study by the well-known Hamburg painter Otto Illies (1881-1959). Studied art history in Munich, took painting lessons with Georg Burmester, Ernst Eitner and Heinrich Knirr. Studied art in Weimar with Ludwig von Hofmanns. Friendships with Ivo Hauptmann, Hans Delbrück, Arnold Dahlke, Rudolf Siegmund, Erwin Vollmer, Herbert von Treskow, Georg Gerken, Willy Preetorius and Muckel Schlittgen as well as with Carl Lambrecht. From 1922 a member of the Hanburg Artists' Association and the Hamburg Artists' Association. His post-impressionist oeuvre enjoyed great popularity in numerous exhibitions (including the Berlin Secession).
